I have been trying to post regularly, and have been successful to some extent on Instagram, but the blog has just been ignored for 2 weeks because of the strange work/sleep/eat cycle we go through in Ramadan.
My routine has been even more messed up because of the work travel that has come up these last few weeks, including day trips, or two day trips. I thought that was a good excuse to talk about what I packed on really short notice for a quick trip!
The way I go about packing makeup is by actually running through the makeup steps in my head. In other ways, I pretend that I’m doing my makeup, and just keep picking things up as I go along.
I packed my favourite Dior BB Cream for a natural look (comes with SPF 20), and also kept the L’Oreal Infallible foundation for if/when I needed a more medium to full coverage that’s long lasting. Another deciding factor was the packaging – I figured it would be easy to carry the tube, rather than the glass bottle (such as L’Oreal True Match). You could use the BB Cream as a primer, but I packed primer from Marc Jacobs because I am obsessed with it (full review here).
To set my face, I kept two travel sized setting powders including Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, which I love for the under-eye, and Make Up Forever HD Finishing Powder to mattify around the nose and forehead (loose powder works better than the pressed one).
Blush and Highlighter
Aaah. The most difficult one because I hate leaving behind any of my blushes and I love to layer!
For this trip, I thought I would keep one mauvy rosey pink, for which I love the NARS blush in Dolce Vita, and second I wanted something peachy-coral-bronzey, for which the Becca Afterglow PaletteBecca Afterglow Palette works best as it has a range of shades that can be layered, as well as a highlighter!
I wasn’t going to take any chances on the highlight, though, so I also kept my favourite cream highlighter from MAC Cosmetics in Hush (I figured it was small enough to pack).
Keeping it simple, I only packed the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Rimmel Glam Eyes (you only need one, but I like to layer), and one jumbo shadow liner from Too Faced in Bronze to double as a lower lash colour or as an eyeshadow if needed. For mascara, I packed my trusty Clinique High Impact mascara (Read why, here)
I usually like to apply my base with my fingers, so I only packed some small multitasking brushes including the Real Techniques Setting Brush (for setting powder), the Wayne Goss 02 brush (blush) and the Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt brush for (contour and highlight). (check out my post on essential brushes here)
Hey! It really isn’t too much makeup and it fit in my cute Sephora makeup bag.
