Review: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation

The search for the “perfect foundation” is a never ending one. It also gives us an excuse to purchase new foundations, which is exactly what I did with the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation.

I have tried the foundation 3-4 times, and here are my quick thoughts

This is a water-base foundation, and extremely runny to apply. Shake well (very well!) before use

Medium coverage at best. Atleast 2 layers required for a decent medium coverage. I haven’t tried 3 layers yet, but it might give a better coverage.

I also tried mixing this in with my BB Cream, but it lost it’s unique luminous look. Not recommended to be mixed. Just use over a primer

Very light! One of my favourite things about this foundation is that even with 2 layers, you don’t feel like you are wearing foundation at all. It even feels lighter than most of my BB creams.

I may be imagining this, but my blush looked much better applied over this, too.

Decent lasting power – I sprayed on my L’Oreal Infallible setting spray over this, and it lasted a good 4 hours at an outdoor dusty event. My blush and highlighter also looked unfazed after the time.

The maximum I have worn this is about 8 hours, and it looked decent towards the end, although I lost coverage around the chin and nose (usual!)

Here is how the foundation looked on my face:

Overall, if you are looking for something new to try, that’s lightweight and medium everyday coverage, try this. If you are looking for the perfect holy grail foundation, you may be disappointed.

Tarte is available at Sephora UAE and Sephora US, or through Tarte’s official website, which delivers almost worldwide (including Pakistan!!)

Let me know your thoughts if you’ve tried this.
